An award winning, recently restored 1833 home, steps from downtown and close to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
Now available for vacation rental
Benjamin Whedon along with Owen Brown (son John Brown of Harpers Ferry fame) set out together from Torrington CT as pioneers of the Western Reserve. Benjamin built this New England home for his son, John in 1833, which three generations of his family lived in for the first 100 years. We too moved west from "Old" England in 2000, having coincidentally, spent time working in Torrington CT. We loved Hudson and this unique and original home. We determined to restore and preserve it as our retirement project. Four years on our "one year" project is ready for others to enjoy
The master bedroom with its vaulted, curved ceiling, quarter fan window and original wide plank floors is unique for this era and location and celebrates the craftsmanship of the early Western Reserve. A special place to spend the night. There's another second floor bedroom overlooking the large back yard and barn. A first floor bedroom with en-suite bath room doubles as a perfect office away from home.
We love the Cuyahoga Valley! It's a year round hiking and trail running destination. 100+ miles of trails including the Blue Blazes of the Buckeye trail. Road, mountain and gravel biking. Kayaking. Winter sports too. After a day outside, enjoy great restaurants and local Micro-breweries, or snuggle up at home in front of our log fire
Dine in the original 1829 post office wing of the house. Cook in the fully equipped gourmet kitchen.
